in sickness

January 20, 2023

In the aftermath of a severe post-covid illness, I could not eat, drink, or breathe normally. This book is a collection of poems I wrote when I could not breathe. My hope is it will resonate with all for whom 2020 ushered in a period of deep pain.

About Me

When I was small I lived in a lonely village called Furaka, and I told stories. I told stories to my siblings before bed every night. I relied on books increasingly as our region was torn apart by conflict. I would often climb into my favorite trees and read for hours. My hope is to write books that others can come to in their own time of trial for hope and healing.

‘When we are writing or painting or composing we are, during the time of creativity, freed from normal restrictions and opened to a wider world, where colors are brighter, sounds clearer, and people more wondrously complex than we realize.’

Madeleine L'Engle
